About Me

I am Danlei Liu, currently a researcher at the SHANGHAI CUSTOMS DISTRICT P.R.CHINA. My research focuses on health quarantine, cross-border disease surveillance, and food safety, with particular emphasis on the molecular epidemiology, genomic typing, and detection technology development for foodborne pathogens such as norovirus and Vibrio parahaemolyticus.

I received my Ph.D. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and completed my postdoctoral training at Fudan University. I am dedicated to integrating metagenomics, bioinformatics, and molecular biology to provide scientific evidence and technical support for port infectious disease surveillance and food safety prevention.

Research Focus

🛡️ Port Health Quarantine

Epidemiological investigation of acute gastroenteritis outbreaks associated with norovirus in cross-border travel groups. Genomic surveillance and outbreak response at ports of entry.

🦠 Emerging Infectious Disease Surveillance

Surveillance of imported monkeypox virus (Mpox) clade Ia cases and SARS-CoV-2 monitoring at Shanghai port using whole-genome tiling arrays as an alternative screening method.

🧬 Foodborne Virus Genomics

Molecular epidemiology, genomic evolution, and structural analysis of norovirus in food matrices. Spatial distribution and enrichment dynamics in oyster tissues. Co-infection fingerprinting by metagenomics.

🧪 Metagenomic Detection Technologies

Development of transposase-assisted RNA/DNA hybrid co-tagmentation methods for targeted meta-virome sequencing of foodborne viruses. Redesigned duplex RT-qPCR for GI and GII norovirus detection.

🔬 Bacterial Genomic Typing

High-resolution genotyping of Vibrio parahaemolyticus through novel markers (mtlA, aer). Epidemiological and genomic analysis of isolates from imported travelers at port quarantine.

💻 Bioinformatics Tools

Development of Nov-Typing platform for automated norovirus genotyping and sequence analysis, facilitating rapid pathogen identification in quarantine and clinical settings.
